LA><ART VISION CAMPAIGN
With excitement, we reach out to you on the occasion of LAXART's 5 Year Anniversary having produced over 100 projects in five years. LAXART, founded in 2005, is the leading independent nonprofit exhibition space in Los Angeles committed to the production of experimental exhibitions and public art initiatives. Our 5 Year Anniversary celebration is marked by thrilling news for LAXART's future: a programmatic partnership in which a forthcoming city-wide initiative will be launched by the Hammer Museum and LAXART in the form of a 2012 Los Angeles Biennial providing a new platform for collaboration and artists of our region.
Additionally, in 2012 LAXART will partner with The Getty to co-produce a Los Angeles Performance Art and Public Art Festival, under the umbrella of Pacific Standard Time, with support from The Getty Foundation. LAXART's Pacific Standard Time programming will feature a solo exhibition by John Outterbridge curated by Kris Kuramitsu as well as solo projects featuring work from the 1970's by Bruce and Norman Yonemoto, Daniel Joseph Martinez and John Divola. Curator Malik Gaines with Alexandro Segade will produce Talks About Acts in partnership with the Hammer as part of Pacific Standard Time featuring talks and performances including Eleanor Antin's Before the Revolution.
LAXART's recent projects include Charlie White's one day event and billboard entitled Casting Call, Glenn Kaino's exhibition Safe | Vanish, Joel Kyack's Superclogger and solo projects with William Cordova, Sherin Guirguis, Artemio, Kamrooz Aram, Colter Jacobson, and others. Forthcoming programming includes a solo project and the first public project in Los Angeles by Shannon Ebner, solo exhibitions with Marcos Ramirez Erre and a newly commissioned video by Marco Rios.
